What drives the cost of an RV carport
We are not going to invent a price range. What we can do is rank the choices that move a quote, so that when you get real numbers you understand what you are being charged for — and where the cheap wins are.
What follows is a cost-factor model rather than an estimate. Use it to understand which of your choices are expensive, then take your dimensions to suppliers and get real quotes to compare.
The cost levers, ranked by impact

What that difference means in practice
It means that being generous with length — enough room to walk around the back, or to park the tow vehicle under cover too — is often a modest addition to the quote. It also means that adding height "just in case" is not a free hedge, and that the right approach to height is to measure accurately rather than to over-specify.
Where people under-spend and regret it
Conversely, the recurring regret is a structure sized exactly to the vehicle, with no room to open a door, walk past, or park anything else. It technically covers the RV. It is unpleasant to use for the next fifteen years.
Costs that sit outside the structure quote
A quote for a carport frequently covers the structure and its installation, and nothing else. Budget separately for site preparation and levelling, foundation or slab work, permit fees where they apply, and any electrical work if you want lighting or power under the structure.
Ask every supplier explicitly what is excluded. The answer varies enough between suppliers that comparing headline prices without it is not a meaningful comparison.
Questions worth asking before you accept a quote

- A price or a price range. Published RV carport prices vary by region, span, gauge, roof style, certification, foundation, freight distance, and the month you ask. We do not currently hold verified, dated pricing we can cite, so we are not going to print numbers that would look authoritative and be wrong. When we have sourced pricing we can stand behind, with dates and sources, it will appear here.
- How much any individual factor adds. The table above ranks direction and relative impact; it does not quantify either, and the step changes it describes fall at different points for different suppliers.
- What is included in any particular quote. Exclusions vary enough between suppliers that comparing headline prices without establishing them is not a meaningful comparison.
Confirm before you buy
- Several suppliers, given identical dimensions
- Real quotes against the same width, length, and clear height. This page tells you which of your choices are expensive; only a quote tells you by how much.
- The trades outside the structure quote
- Site preparation and levelling, foundation or slab work, and any electrical work for lighting or power under the structure. These are frequently separate invoices.
- Your local building department
- Whether a permit is required at your address, what it costs, and whether a certified structure is a condition of getting one.
